Celebrate sustainability leadership at Pitt! Since 2015, the University of Pittsburgh has recognized faculty, staff, students, and groups for their outstanding contributions to campus sustainability.
Nominations are now open for the 2025 Pitt Sustainability Awards, which will be presented this April.
Nominate Pitt students, faculty, staff—or even yourself!—who have gone above and beyond for sustainability at Pitt in any of our three award categories. Nominations are due Monday, February 17, 2025.
Pitt Sustainability Awards
Since 2015, the University of Pittsburgh has annually awarded Pitt Sustainability Awards, which recognize Pitt faculty, staff, students, and groups who make an extraordinary impact on campus sustainability. These individuals or groups have demonstrated their impact in one or more categories of the Pitt Sustainability Plan (Stewardship, Exploration, and/or Community and Culture) via initiatives, leadership, and talents that contribute to a thriving culture of sustainability at Pitt.

Erika Ninos Student Sustainability Leadership Award
Primarily recognizing undergraduate students, the Erika Ninos Student Sustainability Leadership Award celebrates exceptional impact in sustainability. First awarded in 2023, this honor is presented annually to ONE Pitt student who demonstrates exemplary leadership and consistent dedication to advancing sustainability at the University of Pittsburgh. Eligible nominees should have individually initiated, significantly improved, or transformed a sustainability program.

Student Sustainability Champion
Nominees include undergraduate & graduate students who are graduating in 2024. Since 2021, the University of Pittsburgh has recognized graduating students for dedicating considerable time and talents to advance Sustainability efforts across campus, in the community, and beyond. Eligible nominees include undergraduate or graduate students graduating in the calendar year in which they are nominated (i.e., Spring, Summer, or Fall 2025).
