Despite its mission to improve human health, the healthcare industry generates 8.5% of greenhouse gas emissions and is the second leading contributor to landfill waste.
To that end, the Office of Sustainability in the Health Sciences, Office of Multidisciplinary Innovations in the Health Sciences, and the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation are proud to announce the return of the Sustainability in Healthcare Challenge. We invite you to submit proposals that align with our commitment to promoting environmental, economic, and social sustainability in healthcare.
$125,000 in total awards are available for funding. One project will be selected to receive a $50,000 award, and up to three additional projects will each receive $25,000 awards.
We are also offering up to two $2,500 grants to support student-led competitions or challenges focused on sustainability in healthcare. These mini-grants are designed to empower students to design, launch, and lead creative initiatives that drive change.
Round 1 applications are due September 5, 2025.
