This November, the world gathers once again at the pivotal annual meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) — the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) — but this year with a sharper urgency: the decade ahead must be one of delivery.
Held in Belém, Brazil (10-21 November 2025) with a Heads-of-State Summit on 6-7 November, COP30 shifts from ambition to implementation.
Against the backdrop of the Amazon region, the conference will emphasize:
- The presentation and strengthening of updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs);
- Scaling climate finance and aligning it with adaptation and mitigation in vulnerable countries;
- Accelerating the energy transition (renewables, biofuels, phasing out fossil fuel-dependency) within a just and equitable framework.
Our community will be running sessions, engaging with other scientists and experts, and joining key side-events throughout the conference. In parallel, we are excited to launch two major knowledge-products ahead of COP30:
- 10 New Insights in Climate Science — a concise synthesis of the very latest climate research, designed to inform policy, practice and negotiation.
- Resilience Science Must Knows — a practical compendium of what science tells us needs to be done, now, to build resilience in communities and ecosystems.
Together, our presence at COP30 and these launches aim to reinforce the message: science must drive action; resilience must be mainstreamed; and the next five years are critical.
Below you will find an overview of our planned activities during COP30 (subject to update).
