RSB has published Version 3.0 of RSB-PRO-20-003, its Registry Recognition Procedure, effective upon publication in August 2026. The revision, formally approved by the RSB Board, extends the procedure to recognise Integration Partners as a distinct category alongside RSB’s existing Registry Operator pathway.
The two pathways serve different functions within the RSB Book & Claim ecosystem. Registry Operators run recognised third-party registries under RSB’s governance framework, while Integration Partners connect external platforms to the RSB Registry via API, enabling their users to access RSB-grade certificate functionality without operating a registry in their own right. Integration Partners connect their external platforms and ledgers to the RSB Registry via API. This enables Integration Partners to provide their users with access to TIECs issued under the RSB Procedure for Book & Claim (the RSB Book & Cl, which provides the framework for the credible issuance, management and retirement of TIECs.
Integration Partners may manage TIECs through their connected systems but cannot issue TIECs themselves. Instead, their ledgers are linked to the RSB Registry, which remains the authoritative ledger for the issuance of TIECs. This approach enables TIECs to be accessed and managed through integrated third-party platforms while maintaining consistent governance, traceability and controls against double counting across the ecosystem.
By setting out a dedicated API governance and security framework, requirements for traceability and anti-double-counting controls, and a defined audit and renewal cycle applicable to both Registry Operators and Integration Partners, the revised procedure strengthens governance around this expanded scope. Recognised entities in either category are subject to periodic reassessment and are required to meet public transparency requirements consistent with RSB’s wider standards architecture.
The new Integration Partner recognition pathway is accompanied by a dedicated Integration Partner Developer Portal, which will be launched shortly. The portal will provide the technical documentation and resources needed to connect external platforms to the RSB Registry and support the consistent implementation of the technical and governance requirements established under the Recognition Procedure.
This update reflects the growing role of digital connectivity within the RSB Book & Claim system. As third-party platforms increasingly seek to integrate sustainability certificate functionality within their own tools, RSB’s role is to ensure that these connections are governed, auditable and does not compromise the integrity of the underlying registry or the TIECs managed through it. Recognition under RSB-PRO-20-003 confirms that an Integration Partner has been independently assessed against these requirements before being permitted to connect to the RSB Registry.
