Claros Technologies announced the successful completion of a large-scale commercial optimization of its ClarosTechUV™ system. The UV-photochemical PFAS destruction technology was tested at Daikin America’s Decatur, Alabama plant.

This milestone builds on an earlier pilot project and confirms the technology’s readiness for full commercial deployment. The success positions both companies to deliver the world’s first full-scale industrial PFAS destruction installation.

David Hendrixson, EVP of Daikin America, said the project proves complete PFAS destruction is achievable at industrial scale. He emphasized Daikin’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing and innovative solutions.

Hendrixson added that partnering with Claros demonstrates how collaboration can deliver real environmental progress. The ClarosTechUV™ system is now recognized as the most advanced commercially ready PFAS destruction technology.

Michelle Bellanca, CEO of Claros, called this commercialization a turning point for the PFAS industry. She highlighted that the system can treat high-flow industrial wastewater containing various PFAS compounds.

During the recent phase, the ClarosTechUV™ system processed over 170,000 gallons (about 640,000 liters) of contaminated water. It achieved more than 99.99% destruction efficiency across a broad range of compounds.

The system maintained stable performance and demonstrated high energy efficiency at flow rates reaching hundreds of gallons per minute. This breakthrough underscores the potential for sustainable PFAS remediation at industrial scales.

Both companies see this as a major step forward in addressing PFAS contamination. The collaboration aims to lead the way in environmentally friendly, effective PFAS destruction technology.
