Anhui Huaheng Biotechnology (AHB) and BASF jointly celebrated the opening of the R&D Institute of Plant Nutrition Application at Huaheng’s headquarters in Hefei. This event marks the start of a strategic partnership in agricultural biotechnology. The collaboration aims to boost the development of innovative plant nutrition solutions in China.
The institute will serve as an innovation hub. It will focus on integrating basic research, technology development, and the transformation of achievements. Its main goal is to improve precise plant nutrition delivery and promote green agricultural practices.
The institute plans to establish four key platforms: a fertilizer formulation R&D platform, an AI-powered formulation customization platform, a professional product testing platform, and a bioassay validation platform. These platforms aim to achieve breakthroughs in reducing fertilizer use, increasing efficiency, soil improvement, pesticide reduction, and enhancing plant stress resistance. These efforts will support eco-friendly farming practices across China.
BASF’s Agricultural Solutions Division awarded Huaheng Biotech the “2025 Strategic Partner of the Year” award. The recognition reflects their long-term, stable collaboration across multiple fields.
Looking forward, the institute will focus on overcoming technical challenges in efficient nutrient use. It aims to develop environmentally friendly nutritional products and precision application solutions tailored to different regions. These efforts align with China’s goals to reduce fertilizer use and improve efficiency.
Guided by the philosophy of “complementary technologies, shared resources, and joint achievement creation,” the institute will combine BASF’s expertise with Huaheng’s local strengths. This synergy is expected to drive significant breakthroughs in plant nutrition technology, supporting sustainable agriculture in China.
