LBB Specialties, a North American distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, announced a partnership with DMC Biotechnologies to distribute fermented inositols across the U.S. and Canada.
The agreement covers DMC’s KeyPura line of myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol, both produced through precision fermentation. The ingredients target human nutrition, food, personal care, and life science markets.
Inositols are compounds used in supplements for hormonal balance, reproductive health, blood sugar regulation, and metabolic support. They’re also added to infant formula for brain development.
Traditional production relies on chemical synthesis. DMC’s fermentation process produces bio-identical versions without solvents, according to the companies. They claim higher purity, more consistency, and a smaller environmental footprint.
“DMC leverages their proprietary precision fermentation technology to produce bio-identical ingredients without solvents, with greater purity and consistency,” said Jerry Whelan, senior vice president of food and nutrition at LBB Specialties.
DMC’s platform, called Dynamic Metabolic Control, uses engineered microbes to convert feedstocks into target molecules. The company positions this as a more predictable and scalable alternative to conventional fermentation.
Rusty Pittman, vice president of business development at DMC, said the partnership reflects growing demand for sustainable ingredients with proven health benefits.
LBB Specialties operates across five business units covering care, food and nutrition, industrial specialties, life sciences, and Canada. The distributor has been expanding its portfolio of functional and bio-based ingredients.
DMC is a U.S.-based biomanufacturer working on bio-based chemical alternatives. The company did not disclose production capacity or pricing for the KeyPura ingredients.
The products are now available through LBB Specialties in North America.
