Ponda, the maker of BioPuff® insulation, is expanding its efforts to bring a new type of sustainable insulation to fashion. Unlike traditional materials from oil or animals, BioPuff® is made from bulrush (Typha), a wetland plant grown through regenerative farming called paludiculture. This method restores wetlands and supports climate resilience.

Ponda announced pre-registration for its crowdfunding campaign. The campaign invites industry players, innovators, and the community to participate. Funds will help the company grow manufacturing and expand into markets. Ponda aims to move from pilot projects to broader commercial use.

BioPuff® offers brands an alternative to synthetic fills and animal down. Brands like Stella McCartney and Berghaus have already tested the material. The product ties wetland restoration to fashion, turning degraded landscapes into productive ecosystems. Peatlands, which store more carbon than all forests combined, are central to this effort. Rewetting wetlands can restore ecological health and generate biomass for products.

Supported by the H&M Foundation and Parley for the Oceans, Ponda’s progress has been recognized for its potential to change material systems.

The company previously raised $2.4 million in seed funding and has now secured $6.6 million through grants and investments.

Julian Ellis-Brown, CEO of Ponda, said, “BioPuff is more than insulation. It’s a system linking product performance with wetland restoration.” The company wants to show that regenerative materials can be both practical and good for the environment.
