Elcogen was recognised last week for its contribution to China-Europe clean energy innovation at the 4th China-Europe Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, where the company was named a Typical Excellent Member Entity for China-EU Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation.
The award recognises Elcogen’s role in strengthening practical collaboration between China and Europe on advanced clean energy technologies. Notably, Elcogen was the only European solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology company to receive the distinction.
The forum, co-hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce and China’s Energy and Power Planning Engineering Institute (EPPEI), brought together government representatives, research institutions and industry leaders from across China and Europe to accelerate cooperation on low-carbon energy technologies. Discussions focused on clean energy innovation, industrial collaboration, hydrogen, energy storage and the large-scale deployment of technologies that support the global energy transition.
Elcogen’s recognition reflects several years of active engagement in China’s clean energy ecosystem. The company has supported national and provincial demonstration projects spanning SOFC power generation, solid oxide electrolysis (SOEC) for hydrogen production, reversible solid oxide (R-SOC) and co-electrolysis, supplying cells and stacks to research institutes, state-owned enterprises and industrial partners for technology development and validation.
The hydrogen-focused sessions at the forum highlighted the growing importance of international cooperation in developing resilient clean energy value chains, with participants emphasising closer collaboration on technology innovation, industrial deployment and the harmonisation of standards. These priorities closely align with Elcogen’s mission to accelerate the commercial adoption of high-efficiency solid oxide technologies for hydrogen production, clean fuels and industrial decarbonisation.
The recognition, accepted in person by Chris Nash, Chairman of Elcogen’s Board of Directors, reinforces Elcogen’s position as a trusted technology partner in advancing cross-border innovation and supporting the transition to a secure, sustainable and low-carbon energy future.
Elcogen would also like to acknowledge the dedication of its China team, including Roderick Xu, whose continued efforts to build strong local partnerships and identify collaboration opportunities have played an important role in expanding the company’s presence and supporting the advancement of clean energy technologies in the region.

About Elcogen
Elcogen develops and supplies a proprietary solid oxide technology platform that operates in both fuel cell (SOFC) and electrolysis (SOEC) modes, enabling affordable green hydrogen production and zero-emission power generation to drive the clean energy transition. Founded in 2001, the company has its registered office in the UK, its main headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia, and R&D centres of excellence in both Estonia and Finland. Serving a growing global customer base, Elcogen’s cells, stacks, and modules are integrated into third-party systems across sectors where decarbonisation is essential, including steel, fuels, shipping and energy infrastructure. Application-agnostic by design, Elcogen’s technology delivers exceptional efficiency, flexibility and reliability, unlocking the full potential of renewable energy. Together with its partners, Elcogen is enabling a wider ecosystem of developers to advance the global shift to net zero, bridging today’s energy landscape with a sustainable future.
