Dyadic International has signed a new development and commercial license agreement with a European biotechnology company. The deal will add more precision-fermented dairy proteins to Dyadic’s growing food and nutrition pipeline.
The Jupiter, Florida-based company uses its Dapibus platform to produce recombinant proteins. Dapibus relies on microbial fermentation instead of animals. It taps into existing industrial fermentation infrastructure, which helps keep production scalable and cost-effective.
This new program builds on two earlier wins. Dyadic already commercialized recombinant bovine chymosin through a partnership with Inzymes ApS. It is also developing recombinant bovine alpha-lactalbumin with BRIG BIO. Together, the three programs show that Dapibus can repeatedly turn out dairy proteins and enzymes for different food markets.
Under the new agreement, Dyadic stands to earn development and commercial payments, along with licensing revenue and other economic participation tied to future sales. That structure reflects the company’s broader strategy of pairing strategic partnerships with ongoing commercial upside.
Demand for animal-free dairy ingredients has been climbing. Food manufacturers want alternatives that match the taste, texture and nutritional performance of conventional dairy. The proteins developed under this deal are aimed at exactly that, supporting a range of applications from dairy processing to premium nutrition products.
Joe Hazelton, President and Chief Operating Officer of Dyadic Applied BioSolutions, said the agreement marks another step in building out the company’s food and nutrition pipeline. He pointed to the chymosin and alpha-lactalbumin programs as evidence that Dyadic is assembling a diversified portfolio of precision-fermented dairy proteins and enzymes.Â
The new program will now move through strain optimization, process development and commercial scale-up. Dyadic said it plans to keep expanding its food and nutrition portfolio through further strategic partnerships.
