Econic Introduces New Mild Surfactant for Skin & Hair Care Products Made from Captured Carbon

New Ultra-Mild Recreaire^® Emulsifier Extends Econic’s CO₂ Surfactants Technology

Macclesfield, England, UK — September 22, 2026 —  Econic Technologies,

a deep tech company focused on materials made from captured carbon, has unveiled Recreaire^® 17RC28, a new ultra-mild surfactant based on CO₂. Recreaire 17RC28 has a lower carbon footprint and performance that matches or exceeds conventional surfactants when used in lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners, and other personal care products.

Recreaire 17RC28 is specifically designed with a higher molecular weight suited to emulsification. In side-by-side stability testing against a widely used fatty alcohol ethoxylate system, formulations made with Recreaire 17RC28 held a substantially more consistent viscosity over 40 days and while matching the benchmark on appearance and three-cycle freeze-thaw stability. They also showed excellent long-term storage stability over 140 days at 40°C.

Econic’s surfactants technology supports companies seeking solutions with verifiable renewable content and lower carbon emissions. Recreaire 17RC28 contains 28% of CO₂ by weight and reduces carbon footprint by about 25% compared to standard surfactants. It can be used alone or in combination with bio-based surfactants, allowing manufacturers and brand owners to tailor their formulations based on specific needs and sustainability targets.
