Case IH has announced the release of a first-of-its-kind yield mapping technology for its new WD6 windrower series.
Called Relative Yield Technology, the feature allows hay producers to view a map of yield variations in real time at harvest.
“We’ve taken something that in the past has been kind of invisible or a little bit harder to to make tangible, and made it visible for our producers,” said Ryan Kau, Case IH segment lead for hay and forage.
This feature calculates the relative yield based on header drive pressure and compensates for ground speed to track hay production accurately.
Kau said Relative Yield Technology allows producers to look at high, low and average areas in a field to see where productivity could be increased.
“You can even make decision changes in between cuttings,” said Kau.
Four models in new WD6 lineup
The new WD6 windrower series comes in four models:
- 1506 (150 horsepower)
- 2106 (210 h.p.)
- 2506 (250 h.p.)
- 2906 (285 h.p.)
The WD1506 is equipped with a 4.5-litre four cylinder engine while the larger three models come with a 6.7-litre six cylinder engine.
The engines produce a top speed of up to 48 km-h in the three larger models and 35 km-h in the smaller 1506 model. The models are topped off with a 567 litre (150 gallon) fuel tank.
To help save time and fuel, a new Triple Windrow Attachment for the three larger windrowers in the WD6 line can merge two or three swaths into a single windrow.
Two header options are available on the WD1506 model, and the options go up from there on the 2106, 2506 and 2906 models, ranging from the RD135 to the HDX 2 series headers.
Case IH’s AccuGuide auto guidance system assists with maximizing productivity at speeds up to 32 km-h, and Active Header Flotation automatically adjusts to ground contours while cutting and better header protection.
Smaller combines get big precision tech
Case IH’s 160 series combines are also getting a suite of technology boosts for model year 2027.
The 160 series comes in two models:
- 6160 (348 h.p. with a 300 bushel grain tank)
- 6170 (375 h.p. with a 350 bu. grain tank)
Leo Bose, Case IH segment lead for harvest in North America, said these class six and seven combines have a bushel per hour capacity of about 3,500 when harvesting corn.
For model year 2027, Case’s 160 series combines will come with:
- Accuturn for improved end of row turns
- AccuGuide Pro auto guidance for hands-free steering
- AccuSync co-ordination for real-time guidance line and coverage sharing
Case’s 160 series combines will also have a roof-mounted Vector Pro receiver with a no subscription cost connectivity package so producers can access FieldOps and access yield data.
RowGuide Pro is also available for 160 series combines, allowing operators to travel faster and stay on path when met with field irregularities.
A pair of Pro 1200 dual displays also joins the operator in the cab.
The Harvest Command interface on the 160 series — Case IH’s automation feature, which is now standard — has also added grain camera viewing capabilities.
