The latest updates of Claas Arion and Axion tractors made their Canadian debut at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show.
The new Arion 6 lineup replaces its Arion 600 series with 165 and 205 horsepower ranges. The Axion 800 series is now replaced by the Axion 8 with a 240 to 313 horsepower range. Claas’ flagship Axion 9 tractor series delivers 330 to 450 horsepower.
WHY IT MATTERS
The Claas introduction of new tractor models follows its goal to show it’s a serious competitor in the North American equipment market.
“The next generation of Claas tractors represents a major step forward for North American producers,” said Guido Hilderink, head of sales for tractors and implements, in a press release.
The new lineup adopts updated series names for the Claas tractors as well.
Late last year, Claas unveiled its new generation of Arion and Axion tractors to throngs of onlookers at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany.
Under the hood
While Claas’ Axion series tractors come with a six-cylinder FPT engine, the Arion comes with a John Deere platform, said Frans Reijmers, Claas product manager for tractors, at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show.
Arion models come with an in-house-built CVT transmission while Axion tractors come with a ZF transmission.
“We are covering all tractors with a CVT,” said Reijmers. “That’s the only transmission we offer.”
Reijmers added that three models in the Axion 8 tractor lineup have an additional feature he called dynamic boost.
“That dynamic boost is not just available under certain conditions,” said Reijmers.
Reijmers said that the boost is available at any time, saying that the extra power can be useful when transporting a heavy load down the road or engaging the PTO.
“You don’t feel a performance change, whatever you’re operating,” said Reijmers.
While only wheeled tractors were on the show grounds in Woodstock, half-tracked versions of the Axion 9, first seen at Agritechnica, will also be available to North American farmers.
From the driver’s seat
Claas also paid attention to the creature comfort side of things for operators inside the cab.
Cab dimensions on the new tractors have been widened and made taller to improve visibility and to help operators get in and out. Four-point cab suspension is also available.
For operators wanting to kick back and enjoy the ride, a heated seat with a massage function is available as a premium plus option.
The cab is highly insulated and interior noise is rated at a mere 66-67 dB, a feature acknowledged on Claas’ Axion 9 tractor when it was awarded Tractor of the Year at Agritechnica.
“It’s like driving a modern pickup at 100 km/h down the highway,” said Reijmers. “That’s how quiet that is at full performance.”
The electronics layout inside the cabs has also been redesigned.
“The displays are much more open and complete for future development,” said Reijmers, “as well as today’s integration of implements and so on through the ISO network.”
An optional second 12-inch touchscreen is available as well.
Lighting on the new tractors has also been upgraded to the tune of 22 LED work lights that produce as much as 56,000 lumens. For old-schoolers, that’s equivalent to about 35 100-watt incandescent bulbs.
Orders and delivery
Now that Claas’ new Arion and Axion tractors have made their debut to the North American market, customer orders are available.
Reijmers said that the company has pre-ordered “lots of units” for anyone who may be interested in having a new Claas tractor in their farmyard before the end of 2026.
The majority of the orders will be delivered and available anywhere between January and February next year, he added.

Axion 9 CMATIC: 330 to 450 horsepower
The Axion 9 series delivers 330 to 450 horsepower across seven models with an 8.7-litre FPT engine. Additional features include:
- Up to 97 gpm (370 l/min) hydraulic flow
- CMATIC CVT
- Rear lift capacity of nearly 11,340 kilograms
- Fuel capacity of 711 litres for Axion 9-wheeled tractors and 860 litres for Terra Trac models
- Up to 750-hour engine oil service intervals
