AFYREN, a French green chemistry company specializing in bio-based organic acids, has secured a €12.5 million venture debt facility provided by BNP Paribas. The financing is supported by the European Investment Fund under the European Union’s InvestEU programme, an initiative designed to mobilize sustainable investment across Europe.
Founded to replace fossil-based products, AFYREN converts non-food plant waste into low-carbon ingredients. These renewable materials serve several everyday industries, including food and animal feed, cosmetics, and fine chemicals.
Venture Debt allows growing companies like AFYREN to fund essential expansion projects and cover operational costs without selling additional company shares. The loan comes from BNP Paribas Growth Capital & Solutions, a team that funds innovative European businesses focused on clean technology and sustainability.
This funding gives AFYREN key financial support as it continues scaling up production at its main plant in France. It also helps speed up sales as international markets look for cleaner, non-petroleum chemical alternatives.
