Date:

Researchers found that selective deashing of Taixi anthracite alters the residual mineral profile prior to KOH activation, yielding porous carbons with distinct pore structures, surface chemistries, adsorption behavior, and electrochemical performance. HCl, NaOH, combined treatment, and no pretreatment each favored different properties, showing that precursor treatment can be used to tailor coal-derived porous carbon for specific applications.
