
Barocco Coffee, Canada Smoked Fish, Feature Foods International, Ricci Food Group, and Sierra Custom Foods, along with 26 other businesses in the Greater Toronto Area, are receiving funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to invest in new technologies and increase production capabilities in the face of ongoing tariff pressures and trade uncertainty.
The investments, through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), will help recipients strengthen supply chains and diversify into new markets.
“Tariffs are putting real pressure on businesses and workers across the Greater Toronto Area. We are helping 31 local companies and organizations invest in Canadian production, become more competitive and reach new customers. This is about protecting good jobs today, while building businesses that can compete and win in a changing global economy,” said Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
Established in 2010 in Mississauga, Ont., Barocco Coffee roasts and manufactures specialty coffee products for retail and wholesale markets. It’s undertaking a project worth $432,060 to strengthen operations, expand domestic processing capabilities, and support market diversification through the adoption of automated food processing technologies. FedDev Ontario is contributing $216,030.
Canada Smoked Fish is investing in a project worth $1,420,823 to strengthen competitiveness and resilience by modernizing seafood-processing operations. FedDev Ontario is granting $639,370. Founded in 1997 in Mississauga, Canada Smoked Fish produces smoked salmon and other smoked fish products for retail and wholesale markets.
Feature Foods International was founded in 1931 in Brampton, Ont. It manufactures seafood, sauce, and condiment products for retail and food-service customers across North America and international markets. To modernize operations and support market diversification and expansion, it’ll invest $1,989,000. FedDev Ontario is offering $592,200.
Ricci Food Group in Etobicoke has manufactured frozen pizza and food products for retail customers across Canada since 1985. It is undertaking a project worth $1,120,871 to strengthen supply-chain reliability through the adoption of automation and modernized manufacturing processes. FedDev is offering $500,000.
Established in Brampton in 2009, Sierra Custom Foods business provides customized food products and processing solutions to retail and foodservice customers. It’s investing $2,292,654 to modernize food-processing operations through the adoption of advanced digital systems and equipment upgrades. FedDev Ontario is offsetting costs to the tune of $600,000.
