Jaguar has revealed the production Type 01 electric grand tourer, confirming its radical four-door flagship will be offered in Australia with pricing starting at approximately $300,000 plus on-road costs.
Australian orders will open in 2027, although the British brand has yet to announce exact local ordering or delivery dates.
Unveiled in New York, the Type 01 is the first production model in Jaguar’s reinvention as an electric-only luxury brand, bringing a three-motor powertrain, up to 720km of claimed WLTP range and styling that carries key elements of the dramatic Type 00 concept into production.

It also represents a substantial move upmarket for Jaguar, with the indicative Australian starting price positioning the new GT well above its previous I-Pace electric SUV.
The Type 01 is designed, engineered and built in the UK on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA, developed specifically for the brand’s next generation of EVs.

Jaguar claims combined outputs of up to 757kW and 1365Nm, making the Type 01 its most powerful production road car.
The all-wheel drive system combines a 260kW front motor with two 310kW rear motors. Those individual motor ratings do not represent the car’s combined system output, which Jaguar quotes at 757kW.
The claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time is 3.2 seconds, while Jaguar says the Type 01 can accelerate from 100-180km/h in four seconds.
Its two rear motors allow torque to be varied between the rear wheels to assist handling, while the powertrain can disconnect the rear motors when their performance is not required, such as during highway cruising.
A lithium-ion battery with 118kWh of usable capacity supplies the motors, with Jaguar quoting up to 720km of WLTP range and an anticipated US EPA range of up to 643km.

The company separately claims up to 515km at a constant 120km/h. That highway figure is a manufacturer claim under specified conditions, rather than a guarantee of Australian touring range.
The Type 01 uses an 850-volt electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW.
Jaguar says a suitable charger can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes, or add up to 321km of claimed range in 13 minutes.
A split-charging system also allows charging at up to 250kW from compatible 400-volt equipment.
AC charging capability extends to 22kW, with an unusual arrangement providing an AC charging port on each side of the car to make plugging in easier.

Jaguar says details of Australian home and public charging support will be announced closer to the local launch.
Measuring 5235mm long and just 1403mm tall, the Type 01 retains the concept’s long bonnet, low roofline and substantial rear overhang, although the production car has four doors rather than the Type 00’s two.
Standard wheels measure 23 inches, with 21-inch alternatives available.
The rear also retains a particularly unconventional feature: there is no rear window. Instead, a rear-facing camera supplies a digital display positioned centrally at the base of the windscreen, replacing a conventional interior mirror.
Jaguar quotes a drag coefficient of 0.23, aided by active cooling vanes and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler.

Underneath, the chassis combines double-wishbone front suspension, an integral-link rear arrangement, air springs with switchable volume and electronically controlled twin-valve dampers.
Rear-wheel steering provides up to six degrees of movement in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds, contributing to a claimed 11.5-metre wall-to-wall turning circle.
At higher speeds, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the fronts to improve stability. Jaguar also quotes a 50:50 weight distribution.
Inside, the Type 01 has four seats separated by a central spine running through the cabin, with brass-effect aluminium detailing repeated along the doors.
The production dashboard incorporates a 24-inch OLED display ahead of the driver and extending towards the centre of the car, plus a seven-inch touchscreen for frequently used functions such as climate and audio controls.

Rear passengers have their own seven-inch control screen, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
The front seats offer electric adjustment, heating, cooling and massage functions, while the rear seats are heated and cooled.
A switchable panoramic glass roof is also standard, along with a Meridian-developed 38-speaker audio system incorporating a 13-speaker soundbar across the dashboard.
Despite its low roofline and four-seat layout, Jaguar says the powered tailgate opens onto more than 450 litres of luggage space, increasing to 1000 litres with the rear seats folded.
A launch specification called Design Vision will feature satin silver paint, specific 23-inch wheels and brass-effect exterior detailing.

Jaguar will also offer a Chromatic Moments collection limited to 60 vehicles globally, with a choice of specially developed French Ultramarine or London Red paint. Australian allocations have not been announced.
Globally, orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with first customer deliveries expected in the second half of the year and UK pricing starting at £130,000.
