Date:

Researchers developed a method to grow multilayer graphene-like networks directly on nickel powder using sucrose and rapid thermal annealing, then consolidated the material by spark plasma sintering. Under selected processing conditions, the resulting nickel composites showed higher strength, hardness, and fracture elongation than pure nickel while retaining a well-bonded carbon network.
