AFYREN, a leading greentech company specializing in bio-based, low-carbon ingredients through innovative fermentation technology, announced today that it has received a €3 million grant from the Grand Est Region, supported by the European Just Transition Fund.
The company also announced that it has achieved the necessary milestones to secure the final installment of this grant, awarded under Bpifrance’s France Relance initiative.
The funding aims to support AFYREN’s ongoing investments at its flagship AFYREN NEOXY plant, which is now fully owned by the company. This facility is a key component of AFYREN’s strategy to develop circular, sustainable bioproducts that reconcile economic performance with environmental and social impact.
Nicolas Sordet, CEO of AFYREN, highlighted the significance of the support: “Recent geopolitical events have underscored the vulnerabilities of oil-dependent economic models and the importance of alternative bio-based solutions. Our full ownership of the biorefinery and our ongoing investment program are central to strengthening our industrial assets and advancing the green transition. This grant reinforces our commitment to creating value, jobs, and sustainable skills within our territories.”
The grant’s approval underscores the development potential of AFYREN’s biorefinery operations, which are recognized as a model for sustainable industrial growth and regional economic resilience.
The company previously received a €2.2 million final installment in March 2026 under the France Relance program, validating its achievements and strategic investments in critical sectors.
This support from regional and European funds reflects the broader commitment to fostering industries that align economic vitality with sustainability goals, especially in regions like Grand Est, where strategic investments are vital for long-term resilience.
