Agriodor, a French Agtech company, has raised €15 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by the Environmental and Solidarity Revolution Fund, financed by Crédit Mutuel Impact. The investment will help expand the company’s global reach and boost its research efforts.
Founded by Alain Thibault and Dr. Ené Leppik, Agriodor spun off from INRAE. It develops crop protection solutions based on plant-emitted scents that influence insect behavior. This provides a sustainable alternative to traditional pesticides. It addresses pest resistance, regulatory limits, and biodiversity loss.
Recently, Agriodor achieved a major milestone by deploying a semiochemical in French sugar beet fields. This breakthrough marks the start of applying the technology to more crops and pests, including fruit flies, whiteflies, and thrips. These markets are valued at over $4 billion. The company also plans to expand across Europe, Latin America, and North America. It will also strengthen its R&D with artificial intelligence.
Agriodor’s platform uses high-throughput chemical ecology. It reproduces natural plant scents to attract, repel, or disrupt pests. This makes product development faster and cheaper than conventional insecticides. It also helps manage resistance and protect biodiversity.
With 8 patents and a team of 42 specialists, Agriodor works with global partners. It has an exclusive agreement with Syngenta for sugar beet aphids. Co-founder and President Alain Thibault said the company aims to shift crop protection toward biology. Their goal is to increase yields while protecting the environment.
This €15 million funding positions Agriodor as a leader in scent-based biocontrol. It offers residue-free, innovative solutions that support biodiversity and resistance management worldwide.
