Axens and Airbus have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the development and deployment of sustainable aviation fuel as the industry works toward net zero emissions by 2050.
The partnership will focus on technical discussions around SAF pathways to deepen understanding of current and emerging technologies. The companies will strengthen ongoing exchanges between their technical teams.
Axens and Airbus also plan to jointly support wider SAF deployment through aligned advocacy efforts and stakeholder engagement. They’ll identify opportunities where coordinated action could accelerate project development globally.
The partners will explore collaboration on regional market analysis and consider joint initiatives that could reduce risk and speed up SAF production at scale.
“By combining complementary expertise, engaging with the broader ecosystem, and exploring innovative forms of collaboration, both companies intend to contribute meaningfully to the rapid emergence of a robust and sustainable SAF market,” the companies said.
Axens brings expertise in renewable fuels technologies while Airbus contributes aeronautics innovation. The agreement builds on existing cooperation between the two companies.
The partnership aims to move sustainable aviation fuel from concept to commercial reality. SAF is considered a critical component of aviation industry decarbonization efforts.
The collaboration reflects growing momentum around sustainable aviation fuel as airlines and manufacturers seek alternatives to conventional jet fuel.
