Biotalys, a leading provider of protein-based biocontrol solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Danish precision fermentation company 21st.BIO. The collaboration aims to accelerate the production of Biotalys’ AGROBODY biocontrol products by leveraging 21st.BIO’s advanced fermentation platform.

21st.BIO’s proprietary technology, refined over more than 40 years, offers an industry-leading platform proven in broad commercial use. This technology, licensed from Novonesis, will be integrated with Biotalys’ existing work to support large-scale, cost-effective manufacturing. The partnership is expected to expand process development options, helping to bring Biotalys’ innovative biocontrol solutions to market more efficiently.

Kevin Helash, CEO of Biotalys, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership strengthens our technical foundation and supports a growing portfolio of biocontrol products. Combining 21st.BIO’s fermentation expertise with our innovation will help us meet increasing demand.”

Thomas Schmidt, CEO of 21st.BIO, added, “Our goal is to bring promising lab innovations to reliable, cost-effective industrial production quickly and with less risk. We’re proud to help reduce costs and accelerate the market launch of products like EVOCA™ NG, supporting a safer, more sustainable food supply worldwide.”

Following this partnership, Biotalys will conclude its collaboration with Novonesis and is actively engaging with global manufacturing and distribution partners. The company anticipates key arrangements will be in place ahead of EVOCA NG’s registration, expected between 2028 and 2030.

Biotalys is exploring additional funding options to support product commercialization and ongoing development.
