Bridgestone has launched next-generation aircraft tires for the Boeing 737. The new tires reportedly offer improved wear performance and were initially introduced on aircraft operated by Bridgestone’s partner airlines, with the aim of improving operational efficiency. The company plans to expand their use to airlines worldwide, with tires featuring the technology scheduled for installation across a wider range of aircraft from 2027.
Sustainability and demand
The aviation industry’s recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic has increased pressure on operations amid labor shortages. At the same time, airlines are stepping up sustainability efforts in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) target of net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
