As Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show nears the starting gate, organizers say attendees can expect to see a new post-COVID high for the event.
“I’m so excited for this show,” said show director Rob O’Connor. “We’ll have the most exhibitors we’ve ever had since COVID.”
WHY IT MATTERS
Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show is one of the country’s highest profile agricultural events, drawing more than 40,000 people to see the newest equipment and technology. This year’s exhibitor count is the largest since COVID, and the show’s international pull is growing, with delegations from countries including Italy, the Netherlands and Argentina coming to look at Canadian equipment. O’Connor says that interest could turn into business for exhibitors.
Amongst the hurly burly of the last day of setup, exhibitors and show staff were putting on the final touches before opening day tomorrow. The annual event, held near Woodstock, is one of Canada’s highest profile agricultural events.
It attracts over 40,000 attendees each year, and showcases the latest in agricultural technology and equipment. More than 600 exhibitors cover over 100 acres.
That scope has attracted significant interest beyond Canada’s borders, O’Connor said, translating into numerous international delegations. This year more than 14 groups have indicated they’ll be attending from countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and Argentina.
They’re interested in Canadian equipment and technology, O’Connor said, something that could translate into opportunities for exhibitors.
“I’m really please with that growing international interest,” he said.
Farmers planning to attend will also see the latest in equipment and technology, O’Connor said.
“Farmers certainly love new equipment and technology, and it’s an important part of the success of any farm business,” he said.
While organizers strive to present the best show ever year, the one variable they can’t control is the weather. There’s light rain in the forecast, but O’Connor says he’s not concerned that might dampen the show.
“We’ve actually found, when there’s a bit of rain, our attendance is up,” he said. “It makes sense, when you think about it. Farmers might not be able to do silage or white beans – but they can come here and see the latest in technology and visit with their friends.”
