Canadian Dairy Xpo 2025 captures innovation in the dairy industry

Dairy farmers continued to come for the products and companies, but also the comradery at the Canadian Dairy Expo, held in Statford April 5 and 6.

More than 17,000 people took in the event, which was kicked off by the Dairy Business Summit held on April 4. This event brought together industry leaders and innovators who shared their insights into the current agricultural and economic climate facing dairy farmers today. The event touched on topics including cyber security and featured a consumer insights panel which explored the tastes of the Canadian consumer.

One of the most popular events during CDX is the Calves for a Cause which raised thousands of dollars in support of the Children’s Health Foundation in London. Several calves exceeded a sales price of $10,000, with one garnering $20,500.

Youth was another central topic at CDX with events such as the Resume Blitz designed to help young people find careers in agriculture.

Other notable events included the return of CheeseFest and the expanded German Pavillion which offered a peak into new technology showcased in Canada for the first time.

Innovation and technology also took centre stage this year with demonstrations such as the New Hoof Trimming Corral offering a futuristic view of animal management. Participants were also invited to explore the latest gear and machinery to improve efficiency, including the latest a new telescopic wheel loader from Weidmann and TMR mixers new to the Ontario market from Highline and its Ontario distrutor Harco and Sitrex.

Overall, event organizers report a 26 per cent increase in first time participants at the event and a trend towards younger attendees with 56 per cent registered as under the age of 35.
