Accomplished investor brings deep climate tech financial expertise and operational management to accelerate the company’s solid-state transformer commercialization
August 7, 2025 – Boston, MA – Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) proudly announces that Investment Partner Peter Sopher has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer at DG Matrix, a CEV portfolio company, pioneering innovation in solid-state transformer technology designed to optimize energy supply and management in data center deployment for AI as well as a wide range of other sectors.
During his distinguished tenure at CEV, Peter spearheaded investments totaling over $100 million in capital deployment across 18 transformative startups, including DG Matrix. His ability to identify, diligence, and nurture breakthrough technologies has been instrumental in building CEV’s portfolio of world-changing companies.

Peter’s deep involvement with DG Matrix began during CEV’s due diligence process, where his expertise was pivotal in recognizing the company’s potential in AI datacenter and electrification markets. He led the investment in DG Matrix and established a strong syndicate including ABB, Chevron Technology Ventures, Cerberus Ventures and Piedmont Capital.
