The announcement was made on March 31 2026 by Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. Funds are provided through the Government of Canada’s Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy and delivered through NGen Canada.

e-Zinc is excited to leverage this funding to support manufacturing productivity of our unique zinc-based long duration energy storage solution, and very pleased to be recognised as leading innovators in cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of
manufacturing.

Funding will focus on AI-based quality inspection of aqueous electrolyte for a zinc-air battery, and how intelligent quality control may improve reliability and safety in next-generation clean energy storage manufacturing. e-Zinc is leading the project in partnership with Katalyze AI.
