FatHopes Energy has signed a strategic partnership with Spain-based UCO Trading. The deal aims to strengthen Malaysia’s sustainable aviation fuel supply chain.
The agreement, formalised through a memorandum of understanding, names UCO Trading as FatHopes Energy’s global sourcing partner. It will supply used cooking oil and other second-generation feedstocks. UCO Trading has supplied more than five million metric tonnes of certified waste-based feedstocks since it was founded in 2013.
Demand for sustainable aviation fuel is rising fast. Governments and airlines are pushing harder on decarbonisation. But access to certified waste-based feedstocks remains a major bottleneck. Scaling SAF production depends on more than refining capacity. It also requires long-term, traceable supply chains.
UCO Trading sources around 500,000 metric tonnes of feedstock annually. It works through a network of more than 150 collectors and aggregators across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. The company’s operations rely on ISCC-certified chain-of-custody and strict supplier due diligence.
Under the new partnership, UCO Trading has committed to supplying FatHopes Energy with more than 200,000 metric tonnes per year. This is subject to definitive agreements and project milestones. The sourcing will draw from diversified regions rather than a single market, with a focus on Asia. That should help reduce regional supply risk.
Luis Poch Rodrigo, chief executive of UCO Trading, said the partnership marks a milestone for feedstock connectivity in the global SAF industry. Vinesh Sinha, chief executive of FatHopes Energy, pointed to the two companies’ long-standing relationship and shared expertise in building the collaboration.
The partnership will also explore stronger logistics coordination and certification frameworks to support the wider growth of renewable fuels production.
