FatHopes Energy has partnered with PetroVietnam Oil Corporation, known as PVOIL, to build Vietnam’s first nationwide collection system for used cooking oil. The Malaysian company specializes in traceable waste-based feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel.

The partnership aims to turn used cooking oil from households, restaurants, industrial kitchens and seafood processing plants into certified renewable feedstock. That feedstock will support SAF and other advanced biofuels. FatHopes brings its collection expertise and digital traceability technology. PVOIL contributes its nationwide network of roughly 1,000 petrol stations, along with logistics and warehousing infrastructure.

The rollout will begin in Ho Chi Minh City before expanding across the country. Central to the system is FatHopes’ Waste Recycling Management System, a digital platform that traces collected oil from its point of origin. That traceability supports compliance with international sustainability standards and provides transparency for ESG reporting and certification.

FatHopes will also transfer its operational methods and best practices, developed across Southeast Asia, to help PVOIL scale up quickly. PVOIL Trans, the company’s collection subsidiary, will lead implementation on the ground, working with businesses and local communities.

The partnership is expected to aggregate more than 200,000 tonnes of feedstock annually in Vietnam for export to FatHopes Energy. That supply will feed into FatHopes’ upcoming refinery, designed to process waste feedstocks into SAF for the wider region.

Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FatHopes Energy, described the deal as the start of a new circular economy for Vietnam, one that turns everyday waste into a resource for cleaner skies. Mai Trung Thanh, Director of PVOIL Trans, said the partnership reflects PVOIL’s commitment to a more circular and sustainable economy, combining its national reach with FatHopes’ technology and international expertise.
