Each October, The Battery Show North America turns Detroit’s Huntington Place into the center of the battery world. Billed as North America’s largest showcase for advanced battery and EV technology, the event brings together more than 16,000 engineers, executives, researchers, buyers, and innovators from across the industry.

The show floor features about 1,000 exhibitors spanning battery manufacturing, materials, energy storage, thermal management, EV powertrains, and more. Alongside the expo, more than 250 expert speakers deliver 140-plus hours of conference programming on battery chemistry, manufacturing scale-up, supply chains, sustainability, and energy storage. Workshops, an executive summit, networking receptions, and partner-hosted events round out the week. Held October 12–15 this year, The Battery Show is where OEMs, suppliers, investors, and policymakers meet to form partnerships and shape the future of electrification.

ABTC in Full Force

Last week in Detroit, the American Battery Technology Company team was in full force. Over two and a half packed days, we met with customers, strategic partners, industry leaders, and others to move our business forward across the battery materials value chain.

Every conversation had a purpose. We met with current partners and new companies, held strategic meetings with engineering, construction, and supply-chain partners, and connected with movers and shakers from across the entire battery supply chain and around the globe. Together, we advanced commercial opportunities and built the relationships that continue to carry ABTC forward. Among those strategic partnership meetings, we connected with Jennifer Childress and our friends at The Battery Network, whose nationwide collection network helps keep critical materials in circulation. We also met with Jim Greenberger, Executive Director of NAATBatt International, to discuss ways to strengthen the North American battery industry.

On Stage

Our CEO, Ryan Melsert, once again took the stage to share his view on the technologies, strategies, and partnerships needed to scale a secure, sustainable domestic battery materials supply chain. Ryan was joined by Tiffiany Moehring, ABTC’s Head of Communications and Marketing, and Tom Lake, PMP, CSM, of Turner Construction Company, who spoke to the role strong delivery partnerships play in bringing critical projects to life. Thank you, Tom, for joining us!

Exec Connect

Ryan also joined the panel at the invite-only Exec Connect, hosted by the Volta Foundation at the historic Detroit Club. More than 100 battery industry executives attended, including nearly 50 CXOs. On the panel “Global Perspectives on De-Bottlenecking the Mid & Upstream,” Ryan joined John Grimes of Renewable Energy Council Asia-Pacific (RECAP) and Robert Burrell, PhD, of Project Blue, with Michael Liu of Volta Foundation moderating.

Meeting a Pioneer

Another highlight of the week was the chance for our team to connect with Nobel Laureate Dr. Stan Whittingham, co-inventor of the lithium-ion battery. It was an honor to share how ABTC is helping close the loop on the technology his work made possible.

Thank You

Special thanks to Jumana Abdulla for helping make our presence at the show such a success, and to the Volta Foundation team, including Michael Liu and Dana Bubonovich, for hosting outstanding events and the Volta Lounge, a great space to connect and network throughout the week.

And a big shout-out to the full ABTC team on the ground: Ryan Melsert, Dave Rickert, Peter Lancaster, Austin Ornelas, and Tiffiany Moehring! Detroit wasn’t just a week of networking. It was a week of advancing deals, expanding partnerships, and accelerating ABTC’s growth.

We look forward to seeing everyone at The Battery Show in Detroit, October 11–14, 2027.
