Funding
- Phoenix Tailings, a company producing and refining rare earth and critical metals from mining waste and recycled materials, secured major federal funding on two fronts:
- A $66M grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Rare Earth Demonstration Facility Program to advance commercial deployment of its rare earth separation technology.
- A $500M conditional investment from the U.S. Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital for the construction of the Freedom Facility, a fully integrated domestic rare earth separation and metalization platform.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Nth Cycle, a metal processing technology company recovering production-grade critical minerals from e-waste, low-grade ore, and mine tailings, signed a joint development and licensing agreement with Ionic Rare Earths to establish rare earth refining and recycling operations in the U.S. and internationally.
- Dandelion Energy, the nation’s leading provider of residential geothermal heating and cooling systems, partnered with Woodland Peak Development to deploy its geothermal systems in a new all-electric townhome community in Bellingham, Massachusetts.
- Mission Zero Technologies, a company developing electrochemical direct air capture technology, joined Progressive Energy and Airhive to develop UnionDAC, a 60,000-ton-per-year direct air capture facility in the UK.
- Syzygy Plasmonics, producer of low-carbon fuels and chemicals using photocatalytic reactors, signed a capacity reservation agreement with World Fuel Services for sustainable aviation fuel production from its planned NovaSAF
facilities in Central and South America.
Awards + Recognition
- Cemvita, a regenerative biotechnology company converting carbon waste into valuable resources, reached a critical milestone in the development of its FermOil, a renewable natural oil that can be used for renewable fuels at industrial scale.
- Laminar, a physical AI company developing an IoT platform for optimizing liquid and fluid systems to reduce waste in manufacturing processes, earned two industry recognitions:
- Won the 2026 FoodTech Innovation Award for Innovative Solution on Digitalization in the Food & Beverage Industry
- Named to the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Technology Pioneers cohort, recognizing a group of 100 emerging technology companies redefining AI, energy, space, and other industries worldwide.
