Growing Willow in Northern New York for Renewable Energy

About 1,200 acres of commercial shrub willow has been planted in Northern New York. The crop is harvested to produce renewable power and heat at two ReEnergy biomass facilities in the region. SUNY-ESF’s Dr. Tim Volk explains the planting process and how this initiative will boost local jobs in rural economies.
