In January, Hankook Tire announced two new products for its Dynapro SUV and light truck portfolio as well as a new Ventus sport performance tire. The new models are the Dynapro evo AS, second-generation Dynapro HT2 and the Ventus evo ultra-high-performance (UHP) summer tire.
The Dynapro portfolio now features a six-tire lineup for on-road and off-road applications. Hankook says the Dynapro evo AS improves dry and wet braking by 3% and 6%, respectively, over the tested segment leader. It also features an optimized groove design and contact patch that removes acute corners from the tread’s lateral grooves, providing quiet comfort, enhanced mileage and even wear.
Building on its predecessor, the Dynapro HT, the Dynapro HT2 offers a 70,000-mile limited treadwear warranty for passenger sizes. Updates include improvements around the tire’s profile, pattern and compound applications resulting in a 13% increase in mileage compared with the previous generation. Other updates add up to increased snow acceleration (up 6%), snow handling (up 7%) and snow braking (up 9%), in addition to wet handling (up 7%) and wet braking (up 6%).
“Our Dynapro line, which caters exclusively to the SUV and light truck segments, has continued to be a source of exceptional pride and innovative growth here at Hankook Tire,” said Rob Williams, president of Hankook Tire America Corp.
The Dynapro evo AS is available in 26 sizes from 19in to 22in. The Dynapro HT2 is available in 55 sizes from 15in to 22in.
The new Ventus evo UHP is aimed at modern-day enthusiasts, and has a transverse drainage system and widening lateral groves that expand under heavy braking for better traction. It also features a reinforced and flattened side profile for cornering stability at high speeds. Compared with the outgoing model, the Ventus Evo improves wet braking by 7%, wet handling by 4%, dry braking by 6% and mileage by 32%.
“The Ventus portfolio has always been synonymous with high performance,” added Williams. “Much like its sport and supercar OE partnerships, the Ventus evo’s new aerodynamically improved sidewall styled with Vanta Velvet graphics makes it look incredibly fast when standing still and even more so when in motion.”
The Ventus evo is available in 22 sizes, covering rim sizes 18in to 20in. An additional seven sizes are available in its SUV configuration, supporting rim sizes of 18in, 20in and 21in.
