IMG Group has launched the Everbio Innovation Hub, a circular polymer research and development platform backed by €15 million in financing from C2 Capital Partners. Located at the Group’s industrial site in Portalegre, Portugal, the hub brings together four of IMG’s subsidiaries: Evertis, Selenis, Renascis and Renewis.

The hub is designed to develop, test and scale the next generation of recycled and bio-based polymer materials. It integrates capabilities across polymer science, packaging, recycling and renewable energy under one roof, closing the gap between laboratory innovation and industrial-scale production.

Its first technology, perPETuity®, is a solvent-free process that converts complex multilayer plastics into PET flakes of greater than 99.9% purity. The output meets virgin-quality standards, making it suitable for sensitive applications in food and healthcare packaging.

“Everbio is the next chapter: a hub where our polymer, packaging, recycling and renewable energy companies bring the circular economy from concept to industrial scale,” said Manuel Matos Gil, President of IMG Group. “Circular materials at industrial scale are no longer a future ambition; they are today’s reality.”

Established in 2024, the hub consolidates R&D activity previously spread across Evertis, Selenis and Renascis. The €15 million from C2 Capital Partners will fund the development and scale-up of perPETuity®, recycled films and bio-based polymers.

The launch comes as EU regulation tightens. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requires all packaging on the EU market to be recyclable by 2030, with mandatory recycled content targets. The Everbio Innovation Hub offers brands in-house testing and coextrusion at scale to help meet those requirements without compromising performance.
