Inside the gigafactory: the hidden sealing challenges behind EV battery manufacturing (Webinar)

Manufacturing an EV battery requires much more than assembling cells. A gigafactory combines chemical processing, solvent recovery, vacuum drying, electrolyte filling, cell formation, cooling, and final battery assembly, all supported by an extensive network of piping and process equipment.

During electrode production, solvents such as NMP must be transferred, contained, and recovered. Vacuum drying and electrolyte filling require connections that prevent air and moisture ingress. Cooling and thermal management systems introduce temperature cycling that can reduce gasket stress over time. Throughout the facility, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, vessels, and piping create thousands of connections where operating conditions such as chemical compatibility, flange design, bolt load, gasket selection, and installation directly influence reliability.

We will connect these operating conditions to common failure modes: solvent leakage, vacuum loss, moisture ingress, contamination, loss of gasket load, and leakage after repeated thermal cycles, and how these failures can affect battery production through equipment shutdowns, maintenance, product contamination, scrap, and reduced production yield.
