Kruger shared in a press statement that earlier this fall, the company’s plant in Trois-Rivières completed the installation of a steam box on one of its paper machines that manufactures 100 percent recycled paperboard. This new equipment reportedly optimizes steam usage in the machine, helping to reduce its energy consumption by more than one million mof natural gas per year and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 1,949 tonnes annually.

According to Kruger, this initiative was made possible due to financial support from Énergir, as part of its energy efficiency program Energy Diagnosis and Implementation, which aims to support businesses in the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

The company further explains that this project will not only boost the plant’s productivity but also reduce operating costs and improve its environmental footprint. This project is completely aligned with Kruger’s determination to increase its sustainable development initiatives.
