Researchers used transient grating spectroscopy to track elastic changes associated with spinodal decomposition in Fe-Cr alloys, linking TGS measurements in Fe-36Cr with atom probe tomography and composition-based modeling. The work shows that the elastic response depends on chromium content and points to TGS as a potential non-destructive method for monitoring thermal aging in high-chromium ferritic phases.
