Denmark-based energy developer Ørsted has appointed Anders Johannes Enghild as its new Head of Global Sustainability, responsible for leading its team of climate, nature, and community impact specialists in enhancing the integration of sustainability into the company’s renewable energy projects.
Enghild takes on the new position after more than 5 years at Ørsted, most recently serving as Head of Climate, Nature, and Community Sustainability. Prior to joining Ørsted, Enghild worked as a Senior Consultant at global consulting firm Dalberg, and he has also served on the Innovative Finance and Impact Investment Team at The Rockefeller Foundation.
The new appointment follows the recent announcement by Ørsted’s prior Head of Global Sustainability Ida Krabek of her decision to step down from the role at the end of 2025.
Ørsted’s sustainability strategy is focused on three strategic priorities, including Decarbonization, with the company recently announcing a 98 % reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity by the end of 2025 and now focusing on Scope 3 emissions to meet its 2040 net zero goal; Biodiversity, with a goal to achieve a net-positive impact by 2030, and; Community Impact, with the company focused on bringing tangible benefits to the communities in which it operates.
In a post announcing the new appointment, Enghild said:
“Ørsted is a climate company by design and delivering offshore wind is the single most important thing we do.
“Doing it at pace and at scale is essential to meeting the Paris Agreement and building an independent, secure European energy system. Delivering it sustainably is what allows that pace and scale to be sustained over time.”
