Holiday facility closures and year-end shutdowns are indicative of a season of rest. In fact, one study indicates that employees are twice as likely to request time off in December in comparison to any other month. Your staff is taking this well-deserved holiday break, but a holiday shutdown doesn’t have to mean operational standstill—there are a number of holiday shutdown tasks that labs and other closed facilities can perform to maximize holiday closures. The holiday season is, ultimately, a wonderful opportunity for continued facility and institutional improvements and perhaps even hard and soft return on investment (ROI) opportunities by completing some shutdown projects and turnaround work.

Empty facilities present a unique opportunity for facility shutdown services to be performed safely, correctly, and efficiently—with minimal or no interruption. In fact, slowed or ceased operations present a special advantage for facility managers to get things done that would be otherwise very difficult, such as catching up with deferred maintenance, cleaning deadlines, and other turnaround or laboratory ramp-down work.
