Mazama, a Frisco, TX-based superhot rock geothermal developer, raised $135m in Series B funding from Centaurus Capital, Doerr Capital, ConocoPhillips, Gates Foundation, H. Barton Asset Management, and other investors.

🏭 Kanin Energy, a Calgary, Canada-based behind-the-meter industrial energy asset operator, raised $100m in Series A funding from S2G Investments and Canada Growth Fund.

LineVision, a Boston, MA-based grid monitoring and analytics provider, raised $38m in Series D funding from Centaurus Capital, New System Ventures, and National Grid Partners.

Branch Energy, a Houston, TX-based behind-the-meter battery storage provider, raised $33m in Series B funding from Clean Energy Ventures, Piva Capital, Active Impact Investments, Inovia Capital, Prelude Ventures, and other investors. 

☀️ Planted Solar, an Oakland, CA-based autonomous solar power plant developer, raised $32m in Series A funding from Piva Capital, RA Capital Management, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Gigascale Capital, Google, and other investors.

Nomos, a Berlin, Germany-based embedded energy pricing platform for hardware brands, raised $23m in Pre-seed funding from Index Ventures and a group of angel investors.

🚗 CorePower Magnetics, a Pittsburgh, PA-based developer of magnetic components and power electronics for EVs, raised $11m in Pre-seed funding from Engine Ventures, Material Impact, Baruch Future Ventures, Carnegie Mellon University, and other investors.

💨 Isometric, a London, England-based carbon removal registry and verification platform, raised $10m in Series A funding from Intercontinental Exchange.

MCatalysis, a Dallas, TX-based waste carbon-to-fuels platform, raised $5m in Seed funding from Oxford Science Enterprises and HL Energy Ventures.

🍎 Ferm Labs, a Zug, Switzerland-based developer of flavor enhancers from food waste, raised $3.5m in Seed funding from CDP Venture Capital, Alpine Venture Capital, Euregio Plus, Fund F, Loacker Group, and Redstone.

Depotcharge, a Munich, Germany-based marketplace for shared EV charging, raised $3m in Pre-seed funding from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Kopa Ventures, Prequel Ventures, and xdeck Ventures.

💨 PyroCCS, a Cologne, Germany-based biochar project developer, raised an undisclosed amount in Seed funding from Counteract and Lotus One Investment.

Heron Power, a Scotts Valley, CA-based power electronics manufacturer, raised $60m in Debt funding from JPMorgan and TriplePoint Capital.

🔋 Tavion, a Stockholm, Sweden-based developer of utility-scale battery storage, raised $19m in PF Debt funding from undisclosed investors.

Exits

BioValue, a Sint Nicolaasga, Netherlands-based biogas producer, was acquired by Kanadevia Inova for an undisclosed amount.

Funds

🏦 Wittington Ventures, a Toronto, Canada-based venture capital firm investing in commerce, consumer, healthcare, climate, and food tech, closed its third fund at $180m.

💰 Fed Chair Kevin Warsh delivered the first US rate hike in over three years, a unanimous decision that calmed global bond markets. [Link]

Energy-driven inflation was a major driver of the rate increase, and capital-intensive climate infrastructure will be more expensive to build.

⚖️ EPA finalized the repeal of power plant carbon standards, overturning the 2024 Biden-era rule and structuring the move to make reinstatement harder for a future administration. [Link]

💨 ExxonMobil won Texas approval for its $5bn carbon capture project after a lengthy battle over safety and subsidies. [Link]

One of the few CCS projects moving forward as the economics don’t work elsewhere. Exxon's project benefits because the credit, the storage, and the emitter all sit inside one company.

🏭 Michigan won its case against the Trump administration, allowing the state’s Campbell coal plant to retire, while two Indiana plants remain open under federal order. [Link, Link]
