The Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) is excited to launch our new Recycled Content Collaborative. The Collaborative will tackle a critical challenge in closing the circularity loop for packaging: supporting the uptake of recycled content.
Right now, companies are facing increasing pressure to meet ambitious recycled content targets across both their voluntary sustainability commitments and five states’ post-consumer recycled (PCR) content mandates. Still, limited demand for recycled materials, consumer confusion, and lacking end market data can all contribute to packaging leaving the circularity loop and winding up in the landfill.
The SPC’s new Recycled Content Collaborative will help tackle these challenges by aligning industry stakeholders to create a new, strategic approach that supports the use and end market viability of recycled content. As part of the Collaborative’s initial workstreams, the group will:
Share consumer research results on effective recycled content claims
Support members through education and data provision, including business use cases showcasing the benefits of recycled content as well as end-market data to support How2Recycle’s label validation
SPC members can register for the Recycled Content Collaborative’s First Meeting on January 15, 2026
Led by SPC’s Paula Leardini, the Collaborative will bring together brands, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to drive demand for recycled materials, support compliance, and understand how to educate consumers on recycled content.
