A confining-coupling growth method is developed to prepare high-performance NiFe&FeNCL/G catalyst with abundant atomic Fe–N4 moieties and ultrasmall FeNi hydroxides, showing a low potential gap of 0.68 V for electrocatalytic oxygen reactions.
