The $59,990 Subaru Uncharted electric SUV has officially gone on sale in Australia, with first customer deliveries underway and test drives now available nationwide.
While Subaru announced Australian pricing and headline specifications for its smallest EV in May, its local launch has brought a more detailed picture of the Toyota C-HR+ twin’s battery, charging, energy consumption, practicality and ownership costs.
And one of the more interesting numbers is servicing.

Subaru has confirmed the Uncharted will require scheduled maintenance every 12 months or 15,000km, with its first five scheduled services costing a combined $984.18 under a five-year/75,000km capped-price servicing program.
The pricing is very competitive, while the intervals are shorter than the two years/20,000km some EV makes offer.
Individual services for the Uncharted are priced at $128.87, $290.55, $128.87, $300.85 and $135.04, while an initial one-month health check is free.
The Uncharted arrives as the smallest member of Subaru Australia’s rapidly expanding three-model EV range, sitting beneath the Solterra and larger Trailseeker.
The single Uncharted AWD is priced from $59,990 before on-road costs, although that still leaves Subaru’s cheapest EV towards the expensive end of the compact electric SUV market. EV Central previously noted it even starts above the cheapest Tesla Model Y.
It gets two electric motors producing a combined 252kW, with 167kW/268Nm coming from the front motor and 88kW/169Nm from the rear. Subaru claims a 0-100km/h time of about five seconds.
Energy comes from a 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery that provides a claimed 522km WLTP driving range. The newly detailed WLTP energy consumption figure is 16kWh/100km.
Subaru has also provided more information about the battery’s thermal management.
The water-cooled system incorporates battery pre-conditioning and heating, which Subaru says is intended to maintain performance under sustained high loads and rapid charging as well as improving cold-weather charging and range.
DC charging peaks at a relatively modest 150kW, with Subaru claiming a 10-80 per cent recharge in about 30 minutes under optimum conditions.
While single-phase AC charging is limited to 7kW and takes about 12 hours for a claimed 0-100 per cent recharge, the Uncharted can accept up to 22kW from a three-phase AC charger, cutting that claimed full recharge time to around four hours.
A 2kW/8A portable charging cable that plugs into a conventional 10A household socket is supplied with the vehicle.
The Uncharted also gets standard vehicle-to-load capability, with a 220V/1500W outlet allowing the battery to run equipment such as camping fridges, lighting, tools and smaller electrical appliances.
Underneath, the Uncharted shares its core underpinnings with the Toyota C-HR+ EV, combining MacPherson-strut front suspension with a double-wishbone rear-end. Unique tuning has been applied.
Subaru has revealed the battery is attached around the underbody frame and effectively contributes to the structural rigidity of the vehicle, while reinforced side sills provide protection for the battery in an impact.
Subaru’s dual-mode X-Mode provides Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, while Grip Control can maintain a crawl speed of roughly 2-10km/h without the driver using the accelerator. Downhill Assist Control is also standard. Ground clearance is 211mm.
Five levels of regenerative braking can be selected using steering-wheel paddles, with Subaru saying the strongest setting allows the Uncharted to be driven largely using the accelerator pedal alone.
Despite its coupe-style roofline, Subaru quotes 403 litres of luggage capacity behind the rear seats, with a powered tailgate and 60/40 split-folding rear seat.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7.0-inch driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, digital rear-view mirror and panoramic 360-degree camera.
The Uncharted has also now received a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Two option packs remain available: a panoramic glass roof for $1200 or the panoramic roof combined with two-tone exterior paint for $2400.
