Sur-Ron sells four electric dirt bikes in 2026: the Hyper Bee, the Light Bee X, the Ultra Bee and the Storm Bee. Peak power runs from 8 kW to 24.5 kW, and the packs run from 58V to 104V. The only price we can tie to a source we trust is $6,399 for the Ultra Bee HP SW at Voro Motors. Sur-Ron does not publish US pricing, and dealer quotes for the same bike differ by thousands. None of these bikes meet the federal definition of an electric bicycle, so in most of the country they are off highway vehicles rather than something you register and ride to work.

How the Sur-Ron Lineup Breaks Down

Sur-Ron builds one kind of bike and builds it in four sizes. Every model is a lightweight electric off road machine with a mid mounted motor, a removable battery and no pedals. What changes across the range is how much of everything you get.

The Hyper Bee sits at the bottom at 8 kW. The Light Bee X is the middle, and it is the bike that built the brand. The Ultra Bee is the fast one most adults end up on. The Storm Bee is a full size dirt bike that happens to be electric, and it weighs what a full size dirt bike weighs.

One model left. Sur-Ron discontinued the Light Bee S in 2025 and the Hyper Bee replaced it. A new Light Bee S listed in 2026 is old stock.

Ultra Bee: The One We Have Numbers On

The Ultra Bee is the Sur-Ron we have our own numbers on. We track the Ultra Bee HP SW in the RiderGuide spec database and last verified it on September 6, 2026.

It runs a 24.5 kW peak motor and a 74V 60Ah pack, which works out to 4,440 watt hours. That is a lot of battery on a bike that weighs 195 pounds. Voro Motors claims 87 miles at a steady 25 mph, which is a cruising figure rather than anything you will see riding hard.

One detail gets missed, and it matters. The bike is capable of 59 mph, but the listing says it ships with a 20 mph governed top speed. In practice that restriction is how these bikes get sold and shipped. It is not a ceiling on what the hardware does.

At $6,399, down from a $6,899 list, this is the only Sur-Ron price in this guide we can point at a source for.

Light Bee X: The Bike Everyone Pictures

The Light Bee X made Sur-Ron a household name in the off road world, and it is still what most people mean when they say they want a Sur-Ron.

For 2026 it got a real update. The pack moved from 60V 40Ah to 72V 35Ah, and peak power went to 10 kW, up from 8 kW on the 2025 bike. Sur-Ron Canada lists the 2026 bike at about 130 pounds.

We are leaving the top speed out of the table on purpose. Wikipedia’s Sur-Ron model table lists the Light Bee X at 46 mph. Sur-Ron Canada lists the 2026 bike at 50 mph. Two sources that both trace back to the manufacturer disagree, so we are not going to pick one and print it as fact. On the power and the pack, both sources agree.

Storm Bee: The Full Size One

The Storm Bee stops looking like a big bicycle and starts looking like a dirt bike. Full size wheels, a 21 inch front and an 18 inch rear, with real suspension under it.

Sur-Ron lists 22.5 kW of maximum motor power, a 104V 55Ah removable pack and a top speed of 68.3 mph. Claimed range is 74.5 miles at 31 mph, and a 20 to 80 percent charge takes about four hours.

Weight is where it gets odd. Sur-Ron’s own spec sheet prints the curb weight as 209/279 pounds, two numbers with a slash and no explanation of which is which. We are printing it the way they publish it instead of guessing which one is the ready to ride figure.

Hyper Bee: The Small One

The Hyper Bee is the small one, and it exists because the Light Bee S went away in 2025.

For 2026 it makes 8 kW of peak power, up from 5 kW the year before, on a 58V 22Ah pack, with a listed top speed of 40 mph. Sur-Ron UK, the official importer, puts the kerb weight at 39 kg, about 86 pounds, and claims up to 35 miles at 25 mph.

For scale, the Light Bee S it replaced was a 3.5 kW bike that topped out at 31 mph on a 48V pack. The small Sur-Ron got a lot quicker when it changed names.

Sur-Ron Models Compared

Here is the lineup side by side. The gaps are deliberate. Where we could not verify a number against a source we trust, we left it out instead of repeating a dealer’s marketing.

You will notice one price in that table. That is not laziness.

Sur-Ron does not publish US pricing on its own site, and the dealer network quotes the same bike at very different numbers. We found Light Bee X listings spread across roughly $3,899 to $5,500, and Ultra Bee listings from about $6,499 to $8,000. Printing a single MSRP would mean picking one dealer and calling it the truth.

The Ultra Bee HP SW is the exception because two sources we already rely on agree on it. Our own verified Ride Finder entry says $6,399, and so does the Voro Motors product page.

Are Sur-Rons Street Legal?

The short answer is no, and the reason is federal rather than local.

Under 15 U.S.C. 2085, a low speed electric bicycle needs fully operable pedals, a motor under 750 watts, and a motor only top speed under 20 mph. A Sur-Ron misses all three by a wide margin. It is not an e-bike in the eyes of the law, whatever the listing calls it.

What it is instead is an off highway vehicle. California’s DMV puts electric motorcycles on its list of OHVs, which carry an ID plate or placard from the DMV rather than a license plate. That ID expires on June 30 of the second calendar year after it is issued, and registering one means a REG 343 application plus a REG 31 vehicle verification. California is explicit that OHVs are for use off public roads, on land open to the public.

The US Forest Service says it plainly and names the brand while doing it. Electric motorcycles such as those made by Sur-Ron, Talaria, Segway and E Ride Pro count as off highway vehicles rather than electric bikes or mopeds, and they must be registered with a CA Green Sticker through the DMV.

Rules change at every state line, and some states title these bikes differently. Riding on private property with the owner’s permission is usually the one clear exception. Pricing is the frustrating part. A brand this size should publish what its bikes cost in the US, and it does not, which leaves buyers comparing dealer quotes that differ by thousands on the same machine.
