Symrise announced a strategic equity investment in Bond Pet Foods, a biotech company that uses precision fermentation to produce proteins identical to those from animals. This move aligns with Symrise’s goal to develop biotech-enabled ingredients that benefit pets and the environment, while also strengthening its leadership in pet food innovation.
Through this partnership, Symrise plans to leverage Bond’s advanced fermentation technology to tackle industry challenges such as supply chain stability and increasing consumer demand for sustainable products. The collaboration aims to create access to high-quality, responsibly sourced proteins that support eco-friendly pet food formulations.

Founded in 2017 by Rich Kelleman, Bond Pet Foods has made significant progress in producing sustainable proteins through precision fermentation. The company has partnered with industry leaders like Hill’s Pet Nutrition, expanding its capabilities and bringing novel proteins into real-world pet food applications.
