Washington, DC, and Brussels, Belgium; June 26, 2025 – The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC), a council of the Vinyl Institute, and the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers (ECVM), a founding member of VinylPlus, the European PVC industry’s commitment to sustainable development, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen global collaboration on sustainability in the vinyl industry.
The voluntary agreement marks a strategic alignment between the United States and European sustainability programs, while recognizing regional variance. The MOU outlines a shared commitment to align VSC and ECVM programs to help accelerate global harmonization and broaden recognition.
“From blood bags to delivering clean drinking water to electrification of our infrastructure, vinyl plays an important role in people’s lives globally,” said Ned Monroe, president and CEO of the Vinyl Institute. “This agreement recognizes our mutual interest in collaborating internationally on a common framework of continuous improvement in sustainable operations.”
The agreement includes regular coordination between leadership teams and a framework for collaboration through December 2026.
