Date:

Researchers used ultrasound-assisted carbonation to control water confinement in fresh cement paste, producing a highly refined pore network with 96.8% of pores below 200 nm. The resulting paste combined high specific compressive strength, greater high-frequency sound transmission loss, strong strength retention after water saturation, and cumulative CO2 uptake of 7.11% of cement mass after 28 days.
