VMAX VX2 Lite First Look: The Entry Point to the VX2 Line

VMAX put its full VX2 suspension on a $799 scooter and cut the app, the fancy display, and some brake hardware to get there.

VMAX launched the VX2 Lite around July 12, 2026, and the pitch is right in the name: “Full Suspension. Lite Price.” It borrows the same suspension setup as the VX2 Hub, then trims the app, the full display, and some brake hardware to land at $799 on sale. VX2 Lite Overview: What’s New

The VX2 Lite is a stripped-down version of the VX2 Hub aimed at riders who want the comfort of full suspension without the higher price. VMAX kept the parts that shape the ride, then pulled out the connected features to hit $799. There is no app, no traction control, and no Apple Find My tracking. In exchange you get the same front 47mm hydraulic oil fork and rear elastomer suspension as the Hub, IPX6 water resistance, and a choice of two batteries. Claimed Specs and Price

Everything below is manufacturer-claimed. We have not put this scooter on our scale or through our range loop yet. The VX2 Lite comes in two versions: the 31-mile battery at $799 on sale (MSRP $1,099), and the longer-range 56-mile battery at $1,099.

Motor and Performance

The VX2 Lite runs a 500W rated rear hub motor that VMAX says peaks at 1,400W. One marketing graphic lists a higher peak figure, but the spec we trust is 1,400W, so that is what we are quoting until we can test it. Claimed top speed is 24 to 25 mph, and VMAX rates it for a 28% grade. That puts it in normal budget-commuter territory: enough punch to hold traffic speed on flat ground and climb moderate hills, but not a performance scooter. The real story here is comfort, not raw speed. The front 47mm hydraulic oil fork and rear elastomer suspension are lifted straight from the pricier VX2 Hub, and that is the part most scooters at this price skip entirely.

Braking is where the cost cuts show. You get a front drum brake paired with a rear regenerative electric brake, not the dual discs you find higher up the VX2 range. Drum brakes are low-maintenance and fine for commuter speeds, but they are not as strong as hydraulic discs. The 10-inch tubeless tires and IPX6 water resistance round out a package built for daily city riding in most weather.

Battery and Claimed Range

This is the choice that decides your price. The base VX2 Lite carries a 48V 499Wh battery that VMAX rates at 31 miles and charges in about 5 hours, and it weighs 48.3 pounds. Step up to the 48V 874Wh battery and the claimed range jumps to 56 miles in Eco mode, but the weight climbs to 51.8 pounds and the charge time stretches to about 9 hours. As always, the top range figure is a best-case Eco number. Expect real-world range to land lower once you ride at full speed, and we will post our own tested figures when we get a unit on our loop.

VX2 Lite vs VX2 Pro GT

The VX2 Lite is the affordable entry point to the VX2 line, while the VX2 Pro GT sits near the top. What you give up moving down to the Lite is the app, the full display, and some brake hardware. What you keep is the full suspension, IPX6 water resistance, and a choice of battery. Who Should Buy the VX2 Lite

First-Look Verdict

On paper, the VX2 Lite looks like a smart way to buy comfort on a budget. Full suspension at $799 is rare, and pulling it from the VX2 Hub means the ride quality should carry over. The trade-offs are clear and honest: no app, a simpler display, and a drum front brake instead of discs. Electrek covered the launch and framed it as VMAX bringing full suspension to a “mere $799,” but that was launch news, not a hands-on test, and no independent US reviewer has ridden it yet. So we are holding off on a RiderGuide score. If the suspension performs like the Hub’s, this could be one of the better budget commuters of the year. We will update this review with tested numbers once we get a unit in.
