Continental developed a concept tire for Volkswagen‘s Mission Efficiency concept vehicle, which has set a record for EV energy efficiency.

During a 1,278.36km drive from Wolfsburg, Germany, to Vienna, Austria, under real-world conditions, the near-production electric vehicle consumed 7.51kWh per 100km, including charging losses, or 6.89kWh excluding them. Certified by RID – Rekord-Institut für Deutschland on August 24, 2026, the journey required one charging stop and ended with 164km of range remaining.

The tire achieves a rolling resistance of 4.9kg per metric ton, around 25% below the threshold for the EU tire label’s highest rating, class A.
