Date:

On Tuesday 13th May, we brought the Clean Growth Fund Roadshow to Bristol for the very first time — and we couldn’t have asked for a better launch in the South West.

Held at the beautiful EQ Bristol offices and generously hosted by HSBC, the event offered a full day of connection, collaboration, and celebration across the regional climate tech ecosystem. From closed-door pitching sessions to an open networking reception, we saw a vibrant community come together around a shared mission: accelerating the development and deployment of innovative climate technologies.

Pitching Sessions: Founder Focus, Investor Insight

The day began with a series of closed pitching sessions, where a select group of early-stage innovators including Oort Energy, Eluxevo, Nusko, Wild Hydrogen, Sora Aviation shared their solutions with the Clean Growth Fund team.

The intimate setting allowed for deeper conversations and more meaningful feedback, as well as the opportunity for CGF to learn more about the bold ideas coming out of the region.

Evening Reception: Building Bridges Across the Ecosystem

As the afternoon gave way to evening, the space opened up to welcome investors, local authorities, corporate stakeholders, climatetech innovators, and cleantech supporters from across the region and beyond. The evening drinks reception buzzed with energy, shared purpose, and rich conversation.

We were honoured to be joined by Ed Rowberry, President of Business West and Chief Exec of BBRC who opened the reception with reflections on the strength and depth of the climate and innovation ecosystem in Bristol and the wider South West. Ed’s words served as a reminder that collaboration — between public and private, large and small — is key to accelerating progress.

We also heard from Investment Partner, Susannah McClintock, on why Clean Growth Fund chose to come to Bristol, the progress CGF’s portfolio companies are making in significantly reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and who the CGF investment are looking to meet.

Why Bristol?

Bristol is a natural hub for climate innovation. The city has long been recognised for its leadership in sustainability, renewable energy, engineering, civic engagement, and green tech — and it continues to produce ambitious, solutions-focused startups ready to scale.

Bringing the Clean Growth Fund Roadshow here was an opportunity to connect national investment expertise with local innovation, and to highlight the incredible talent and energy present in the region. The turnout and engagement we saw confirmed that this is a community with both appetite and ability to lead the charge toward net zero.

Looking Ahead

This event is part of CGF’s ongoing commitment to get out into the regions, meet founders where they are, and strengthen the cleantech community across the UK.

We left Bristol inspired — by the passion of the founders, the curiosity of the investors, and the enthusiasm of everyone who joined us. We’re excited to continue the conversations started at the event and look forward to meeting many more of you soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part — especially our hosts at HSBC, our speakers and guests, and all those building the next generation of climate tech.
